How to Root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on Mac

Rooting is a process that allows users of mobile phones and other devices running the Android operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's Linux subsystem with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and manufacturers put on some devices. You will have so many privileges over your stock firmware once you root your phone.
For example you can run different base band for better network connectivity. This rooting method is only work windows. This rooting method will work on All Galaxy Note 2. So lets get to the procedure.  

Here is files you will need.

Step 1. Download the file. Unzip the downloaded file and install heidmall (you will need to restart you mac after installing it). Then transfer CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip file on your Note 2.

Step 2. Boot into Download mode; Power off your Note.  Then hold down Volume Down, Center Home, and Power buttons together until you see a warning screen.  Then Press Volume up.



Step 3. Connect your Note to your Mac via micro USB.

Step 4. Open terminal and type following lines :

cd Downloads
cd GalaxyNoteMacLinux
sudo heimdall flash --recovery recovery.img 


Step 5. If you don’t get any errors you can skip this step.  If you get “ERROR: Claiming interface failed”, then copy and paste the following into terminal and repeat the last line in Step 5.
 
sudo kextunload -b com.devguru.driver.SamsungComposite
sudo kextunload -b com.devguru.driver.SamsungACMData
sudo kextunload -b com.devguru.driver.SamsungACMControl


Step 6. Now your Note 2 should reboot.  If you still get an error try entering 3 lines from last step again.

Step 7. Once rebooted boot into CWM. By turning off your Note II then hold down Volume Up, Center Home, and Power buttons together until you see CWM Recovery. 

Step 8. Once there, choose install zip from sdcard and hit the Power button.

Step 9. Choose  zip from sdcard and hit the Power button.

Step 10. Find folder with  CWM-SuperSU-v0.94.zip and hit the Power button. Select the file and scroll down where it says Yes and choose it.

Step 11. Reboot your phone and now you should find a new app called  SuperSU. 

Step 12. Now you should verify that you have full root by downloading Titanium Backup app from the Play Store and running it, you should see Superuser permissions window pop up.

  3. The title for your post says this for Mac, but then you state it is only for Windows. So, which is it?

    2. The 3rd sentence near the end of paragraph 1. I said the same thing when I read it. Question : I know this is a old post, but will this work on a tmobile note 2 running 4.3? Thanks in advance...
